Despite being available for almost a full year now, Mario Kart World is about to get the Wii-era peripheral treatment from Hori. Following up on its Mario Kart 8 Deluxe accessories, Hori has revealed two new wheels designed specifically for Mario Kart World that will be hitting retail shelves on March 23rd, 2026. Dubbed the “Mini” and “Deluxe” models, these are basically just Mario-themed steering wheels for use on the Switch 2. I’m pretty sure they’ll work in any racing game, if not every Nintendo Switch 2 game.
The Mini model is an $80 set that includes an appropriately colored Red-and-Blue wheel with some pedals. Its smaller stature is maybe targeted at kids, but it provides a cheaper way to pretend you’re driving an actual go-kart when playing Mario Kart World. The new addition to these wheels is a GameChat button, though the wheel also has paddles on the back and button remapping to customize your experience. Interestingly, it is compatible with Switch 1, so you can buy it ahead of time if you don’t have a Switch 2 yet.

The same thing goes for the Deluxe model, which will run you $130. Sporting a more “professional” Red-and-Black color design, it’s basically just a larger version of the Mini model with textured rubber grips. Hori does note that this Deluxe version has extensive customization, including seven levels of sensitivity to dial in the experience you want. You can also switch between 270 and 180-degree steering, letting you tweak how far you want the wheel to rotate.
I’m not sure that Mario Kart is the type of game I’d want a more authentic experience with, but I do like the aesthetics of these wheels. If you’re a big racing game fan with a Switch, it might be worth getting one of these at some point.
