Target and The Pokémon Company have announced a new collaboration event to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pokémon. Aptly titled “Pokémon x Target,” it will include over 100 different items in Target stores with designs featuring iconic characters from Nintendo’s long-running creature catching franchise. Gigi Guerra, vice president of creative curation for Target, said, “We know our guests love Pokémon, and we worked with the brand to make this 30th celebration really fun and exciting — even tapping long-time fans within our own team to design it.”
Set to kick off on May 2nd, 2026, the event will roll out in two phases. The first includes roughly 65 items that range from t-shirts, bags, headphones, and pouches and should be available in Target stores nationwide. The second wave begins on June 6th, 2026, and will include an additional 40 items to give “guests two opportunities to explore the newness within the collection.” You can actually catch an early glimpse of some of the products on Target’s website.

“For 30 years, Pokémon has sparked joy, imagination, and connection for all types of fans,” said Amy Sachtleben, senior director of licensing and promotion for TPC. “This collection is designed to bring that sense of fun and adventure into everyday life, with merchandise that appeals to both longtime Trainers as well as those who recently began their Pokémon journey.”
To that end, creators such as SuperDuperDani, Stephosaurawr, Sydeon, and PhillyBeatzU have been tapped to provide new takes on fan favorite Pokémon such as Bulbasaur, Jigglypuff, and Gengar. Familiar brands such as Mead (makers of Trapper Keeper), Caboodles, Lip Smacker, and Starter will be plastering these designs on their iconic products for kids and adults to enjoy. Some stores will even feature “immersive in-store experiences,” such as Target SoHo in NYC.
