Alongside the addition of some games last night, Nintendo has quietly updated both the NES Classics and Game Boy Classics apps for NSO subscribers with a long-requested feature: in-app controller remapping. Surprisingly, NES games have not had the ability to remap button layouts on the app level, requiring players to fiddle with the console’s own controller remapping setting and override buttons on an OS level. Thankfully, you won’t need to do that anymore.

On the Game Boy side of things, Nintendo has now included some easter eggs regarding the boot up screen. With the latest update installed, players can hold their left joystick in any direction, and it will play the original Game Boy start-up animation. This screen will change based on the filter you have selected, giving you the ability to view the original greenish version, the more palatable yellow one, or even the Game Boy Color screen. Reportedly, the start-up sound has also changed to the coin block from Super Mario Land.
