In collaboration with Aspyr, Square Enix has just shadow dropped 2013’s Tomb Raider on the eShop for both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Coming in the form of 2014’s “Definitive Edition” remaster, this version includes the campaign with all of its multiplayer DLC. That’s right, the multiplayer mode has made the cut and allows for up to eight players to frag each other across a variety of maps. This release also comes packed with “Digital Bonus Content” that includes a Dark Horse comic, a mini-art book, and the documentary “Final Hours of Tomb Raider.”
The description on the eShop doesn’t mention if there are any specific Switch features included here, but it does list “Touch Screen” as an input option. You likely can navigate menus with the touchscreen when playing in handheld mode. The Switch 2 port probably runs at 60 fps as it’s very unlikely Switch 1 can accomplish that (the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 ports were locked to 30 fps). We don’t know how else Aspyr has touched up this version or if anything else is changed about it.
The game is currently discounted 10% on the eShop from its original $19.99 price (which makes it $17.99) for launch week. If you own Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered or Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered, you’ll receive an additional 10% off on a purchase. These discounts stack, too, so you can grab the game for 30% off if you’ve been a loyal Tomb Raider fan.
