After a long wait, the latest Pokémon Presents has finally arrived. Amid all the new information shared, there was quite a big focus on the upcoming Pokémon Champions game. This battling-focused entry has been one of the most anticipated new games alongside Pokémon Legends: Z-A, but up until now there was very little actually known about it. Now with this new look at the game, the changes it’ll bring to Pokémon battling as we know it are finally clear!
For the first time since Pokémon Champions was first revealed, we finally have a glimpse at how the game will actually work. For starters, both single battles and double battles are available, with options for ranked matches as well as private matches between friends. Pokémon can be transferred into the game via Pokémon HOME, but they can also be recruited and trained in-game for those without that option. The training is quite robust, allowing players to easily adjust stats, natures, movesets, and abilities all in convenient and simple menus. These quality-of-life changes are sure to make competitive Pokémon battling even more accessible than they’ve ever been before.
When will Pokémon Champions release?
While there was no exact release date given, the trailer revealed that Pokémon Champions will be coming out sometime in 2026. It’s set for release on both mobile devices and the Nintendo Switch, meaning it will be available on the Switch 2 as well. Keep an eye out for more info on the release of the game as 2026 draws nearer!
