If you’re a fan of not only retro games but gaming history, Digital Eclipse’s Atari 50 is a must-own compilation. Containing over 100 games from across legendary developer Atari’s history, the game not only offers newer players a chance to experience the past, but gives them the historical context and design philosophy behind it. It truly is an incredible historical document and it’s about to become even more encompassing with some brand-new Namco-themed DLC.

In collaboration with Bandai Namco, publisher Atari (which is different from old-school developer Atari) has announced that Atari 50 will be receiving the “Namco Collection” DLC later this year. Going for $7.99, it will include Pac-Man 2600, Galaga, Dig Dug, Xevious, Galaxian, and other games that were ported to the Atari 2600. Bandai Namco’s SVP of business innovation and licensing, Karim Farghaly, said in a statement, “Working with Atari once again and helping reignite our history of collaborating to bring joy to video game fans worldwide is an incredible honor.”

If you fancy having something more physical than DLC, though, then the newly announced Atari 2600+ Pac-Man Edition might be up your alley. Retailing at $169.99, this bundle repackages the 2600+ in Pac-Man yellow and includes the pack in game, “Pac-Man: Double Feature.” Double Feature will contain the original 2600 version of Pac-Man alongside a new iteration called Pac-Man 7800, which is a theoretical port to Atari’s 7800 device. You can also buy a recreation of the old-school Atari controller in colors themed around Pac-Man, including the pellet gobbler himself, and the ghosts Inky, Blinky, Pinky, and Clyde. The controllers (which are wireless) will cost $39.99 each.

If you happen to be attending San Diego Comic-Con this year, Atari will also be distributing 1,000 exclusive boxed copies of Pac-Man: Double Feature that come in a gold box and have a color cartridge. These will run $99.99 each and come with a limited-edition pin and patch. That’s maybe a bit much, but considering this is a true collector’s item, it might be worth it to die-hard fans.
