Microsoft’s Killer Instinct Gold, which was originally developed by Rare, can now be played on Nintendo Switch Online’s Expansion Pack tier. Just a few months ago, the original Killer Instinct was added to the Super Nintendo library on NSO which itself was a port of Killer Instinct arcade, but Gold is about as close as one can get to playing the arcade cabinet of Killer Instinct 2 from home.

Originally included in Xbox One’s Rare Replay, along with Banjo Kazooie, Blast Corps and Perfect Dark which are also on NSO, Killer Instinct Gold is one of the N64’s few fighting games and one of its best. Through the use of unique character-specific combo chains and defensive combo breakers, which led to ubiquitous voiceover announcer shouts, players can throw down again like it’s 1996. There’s also finishers here for those of you who need more Mortal Kombat in your fighting game of choice.

Fulgore, Spinal, Jago, and co are all here and raring to brawl in Arcade ladders, Team, and Team Elimination battles, a Training mode, and Tournament modes. Killer Instinct Gold is available to play right now on Nintendo 64 through Nintendo Switch Online’s Expansion Pack tier.
