The announcement of Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut coming to Switch 2 was an exciting one for fans of the series. Not only was the classic installment of the franchise getting a new lease of life on a portable system, but it would also contain some extra cutscenes and a multiplayer mode to extend its shelf life. One of the overlooked features of this belated port, however, is the inclusion of an English dub option for people who don’t prefer to read subtitles while playing a game. While that’s not new for the series now, it wasn’t included in the past due to how niche Yakuza was.
Still, we’re in 2025, and people play Yakuza in English now. I don’t know any of those people, but they exist. For that specific English-speaking audience, Sega has released a new clip from Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut that shows off some of its English dub. I can’t say that I’ll ever listen to more than the 20 seconds released, but I appreciate that Sega included separate lip syncing for the English dub. This has been one of the best features for the series since it started to include a different VO option. Trying to play games where the lips don’t match is aggravating as hell, which is why I typically opt for the original language whenever possible.
Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut will release on June 5th, 2025, alongside the launch of the Switch 2. Sadly, it will be on a game key card instead of a full cartridge.
