During today’s Nintendo Treehouse Live stream, Capcom was on hand to showcase some gameplay of Street Fighter 6 running on the Switch 2. While the game is obviously not on par with the visuals for the PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X versions of the game, it does still look quite good and runs at a locked 60 fps. More importantly than graphics, however, are all of the exclusive features that the Nintendo Switch 2 port will contain. If you’ve ever felt the need to wildly swing your controller around while fighting your friends, SF6 Switch 2 has got your back!

Gyro Battle

While really more of a control option rather than a game mode, the “Gyro Battle” will let players twist and turn their Joy-Con 2 to perform in-game actions while battling. Functionally, it works similarly to the “Dynamic” control option already present in Street Fighter 6, just that it doesn’t utilize the buttons all that much. It seems fine and should definitely prove to be entertaining in the right setting.

Calorie Contest

The second mode was what the commentators dubbed the “Calorie Contest.” As you would expect, this involves more flailing the Joy-Con 2 around and has the same control option as Gyro Battle. The difference here is that players won’t be battling with the traditional health bar, but with a meter that increases as you perform more intensive moves. It’s basically another “Extreme Battle” variant, just with a Switch 2 gimmick thrown in. It looks fun, though I don’t anticipate it will become the standout feature here.

amiibo on Street Fighter 6

Lastly, the Switch 2 version of Street Fighter 6 supports amiibo for saving some character and control data that can be brought over to another Switch 2 console. Announced during the Switch 2 Direct, the game will launch with new amiibo for Luke, Jamie, and Kimberly, and it will also support the Smash Bros. Ryu and Ken amiibo. In addition to those, there will be a starter card pack that includes the current 22-character roster, all of which will be available in-game at launch and have the same functionality.

While Street Fighter 6 for Switch 2 is unlikely to replace your current version of the game, it retains every feature from its brethren and even packs in some new ones. Capcom has yet to confirm if the online multiplayer will be crossplay enabled, but there are still a few months until launch.
