A brand-new Nintendo system means brand new Nintendo accessories, and the Switch 2 is no exception. Shown off during this morning’s Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, the Nintendo Switch 2 is getting its very own Pro Controller, with a few updates from the Switch’s Pro Controller.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller features a familiar design, with a nearly identical silhouette to the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, though this time around it’s not encased in transparent, smokey gray plastic, instead utilizing a matte black for the main body, with white accents under the joysticks as well as on the top of the controller and the L, R, ZL, and ZR buttons.

In addition to the existing Pro Controller features like HD Rumble, Motion Controls, and amiibo support, the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller features a few new buttons as well, with the biggest addition being the new C button, used to open up the Switch 2’s new GameChat feature. Also featured are brand-new GL and GR buttons on the back of the handles, which are able to be mapped to any button you choose. Rounding out the new additions is a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom of the controller.

I absolutely adored the original Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, and I’m excited to get my hands on the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller. There’s no confirmed release date for the new controller, with special mention being made in the Direct that it has not yet been authorized by the Federal Communication Commission, meaning it won’t be able to be offered for sale until the authorization is obtained. Hopefully that process goes smoothly for Nintendo and the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller arrives on or near the release date of the Nintendo Switch 2 itself.
