At long last, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 has been announced. After being technically cancelled and sitting in limbo for a few years, Activision is returning to the Bird House to bring fans what looks to be the definitive versions of some of the best skating games ever made. As the title suggests, this remake will include updated versions of both Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 (the best one) and 4, but unlike last time, it won’t stop with nostalgia.

Set to launch on July 11th, 2025, for all major platforms and Nintendo Switch (and maybe Switch 2?), THPS 3+4 will have all 21 levels from the original two games alongside brand-new skateparks. There is no mention of whether or not the Xbox-exclusive “Oil Rig” level is here, but THPS 1+2 did not include the Xbox-exclusive levels for THPS2x (which, admittedly, weren’t great), so I wouldn’t hold out hope. Either way, this will be a seriously stacked game and it’s fantastic that we’re getting new parks after all this time.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 music

Just like last time, THPS 3+4 will also feature new skaters and new songs. We don’t know if the entire setlist from the originals will return, but the trailer prominently features Motorhead’s “Ace of Spades.” THPS 3, in particular, had a legendary soundtrack that was foundational for a generation of players. While I could see some tracks getting axed, the fact that new music is here will likely continue the tradition that THPS 1+2 started by introducing old players to newer songs.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 Editions

Another fun addition comes from the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game. While I’m not a fan of pre-order gimmicks like this, especially the ridiculous “early access,” buying the more expensive version will give players access to the Doom Slayer and the Revenant from Doom as playable characters. This is actually a callback to the PC version of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3, which included the Quake 3 Arena model of the Doom guy as a character.

The Collector’s Edition will include a limited edition full-size Birdhouse skateboard printed with a reissued version of the iconic Wings graphic and a printed autograph from Tony Hawk. A physical copy of the game with a voucher for all the Digital Deluxe Edition benefits will also be packed in this edition.

All in all, the game sounds great on paper. Considering the legacy left behind by 1+2, 3+4 looks like a proper evolution while also not forgetting what came before. It will be a blast to relive these games, especially 3, on modern platforms.
