One of the more exciting announcements during Sony’s State of Play stream, Koei Tecmo announced Warriors: Abyss as a surprise shadowdrop for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. Seemingly inspired by Hades and tasking players with taking on thousands of monsters from the depths of hell, Warriors: Abyss is the latest crossover game from the Warriors series that incorporates characters from Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, and a few other Koei Tecmo franchises (such as Ninja Gaiden). The twist here is that this is a roguelike, so players will die and repeat their struggle against hell’s forces for however long it takes to defeat the ultimate evil.

Warriors: Abyss will see players forming teams of up to 100 warriors, which they can call upon for help during battle. Koei Tecmo mentions the ability to create powerful teams, though it’s not clear how that is accomplished. At any rate, this is a big departure for the Warriors’ crossover games and looks like a fresh spin on things.

When will Warriors: Abyss release on Switch?

While the game is currently available on most platforms, the Switch version will actually be released on Friday, February 14th, 2025. It goes for $24.99 on Steam, so the price will likely be the same on Nintendo’s console. No physical version has been confirmed as of yet, though an absolute asinine $80 “Ultimate Edition” is available with extra costume DLC.
