Nintendo has announced an update to Nintendo Switch Online’s GBA games, with Wario Land 4 set to be released next Friday, February 14th. What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than with the smelly, greedy villain Wario?

Wario Land 4 first released in 2001 on the Game Boy Advance, then re-released ten years later as one of ten GBA games for the 3DS Ambassador Program. (Fun fact: the Ambassador Program was the only way to legitimately obtain this game and the nine other GBA titles on 3DS). It was also released on Wii U in 2014 and now on Switch in 2025.

Most players love the diversity of the levels and sound design, as well as the emphasis on collecting (this is a Wario game after all). Wario Land 4 is reminiscent of the GBA Mario games but does well to do its own thing and change up the formula for a different protagonist. It was the only Wario Land game I ever played and I really enjoyed it — just wish they’d give Wario more titles that aren’t WarioWare.

Wario Land 4 releases on Nintendo Switch Online in one week! Are you planning on picking it up?
