In a small update regarding Yooka-Re-Playlee, developer Playtonic has confirmed that the Shovel Knight cameo from the original release will be making a return. Not only will Shovel Knight still lend his shovel to the righteous cause of stopping Capital B, he’ll do so sporting shinier armor. Gotta love those next-gen visuals!
More important than his inclusion in the remaster is that the previous Shovel Knight challenge course has been revised. While it would have been cool to play as the blue armor-clad knight himself, the brief trailer shows us a platforming course that looks petty faithful to classic 3D platformers. I definitely miss the days when those were common, even if Nintendo hasn’t given up the torch just yet.
Yooka-Re-Playlee still doesn’t have a release date yet, but it will be coming to all modern platforms sometime in the future. It’s very interesting how Playtonic only has “Nintendo” listed instead of specifically the Switch, but this remaster will probably be one of the first Switch 2 games in the wild. It could even wind up a launch game for Nintendo’s next console.
