After the surprise drop of a Switch 2 reveal teaser, the internet was set ablaze with the information that the Switch successor is actually real and is coming sometime this year. Since it would be incredibly silly to unveil the new console and not give any information, the teaser ended with a confirmation that a Nintendo Direct focused on the new device and its games would be happening soon.
When will the the Switch 2 Nintendo Direct air?
The Switch 2 Direct will take place on April 2nd, 2025.
Yes, we only have a couple of months to wait before we get a more substantial look at the Switch 2. I’m sure the internet will be full of even more rumors now that there’s an official render of the console and a confirmation that it won’t bear a ridiculous name such as “Super Switch.” While it would be nice if the Nintendo Direct was even closer, a couple of months is hardly a long time. It also gives the currently announced Switch 1 games for 2025 sometime to exist before people move their attention over to the new console.
What we can reasonably expect from this Nintendo Direct should be obvious: games. What games, though? Well, one is likely a new Mario Kart as the footage shown in the Switch 2 reveal trailer was not Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. There’s also probably going to be confirmation of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond being a cross-generation game as I predicted. Apart from that, there are too many unknown variables to guess.
