What better time than a Thursday evening to get some surprise Nintendo news? Nintendo has just shadow-dropped the Game Boy’s Donkey Kong Land on the Nintendo Switch Online service.

Released in 1995, Donkey Kong Land was developed alongside its counterpart on the Super Nintendo, Donkey Kong Country, and features similar gameplay and artstyle, though with different level layouts. Like Country, Donkey Kong Land’s features pre-rendered graphics converted into sprites, allowing Land to look very similar to Country despite the Game Boy’s weaker hardware.

You can try out Donkey Kong Land for yourself right now using the Game Boy app available to Nintendo Switch Online members.
