Nintendo recently held an investors meeting, revealing information on the current Nintendo Switch as well as the upcoming successor console. One of the more interesting facts was about Nintendo’s online service.

Nintendo Switch Online had 34 million users as of September 30, 2024, but according to Nintendo, membership has decreased on a year-to-year basis. Nintendo does acknowledge that they have released fewer games that require online play, but does bring up that more users are opting in to the Expansion Pack option for Nintendo Switch Online.

It was mentioned that the Switch successor would be backwards compatible with the Switch, as well as have Nintendo Switch Online. The entire meeting was pretty interesting, so if you have time, I’d suggest giving it a read!

The Switch 2 is officially backwards compatible!
