Super Mario Party Jamboree is just over a week away from its October 17th release and Nintendo is clearly counting the days. A demo for the game is available on Nintendo kiosks across the country as of Friday, October 4th.

The demo can be played in stores such as Target, Best Buy, and GameStop. It’s quite a comprehensive sampling of Jamboree, though keep in mind the demo runs on a 10 minute timer.

Two game modes are available to try out – the 20 player Koopathlon and Minigame Bay. In the demo, the Koopathlon will pit you against 19 computer players where you’ll “race” one another by how many coins you collect in each minigame until it’s time for a Survivathon Minigame from Imposter Bowser. As for Minigame Bay, only three play modes are available to try out – Showdown Minigame Battle, Free Play, and Tag Match (2 vs. 2 team matches).

This demo is the first look we have gotten at the Showdown Minigames specific to the Jamboree Buddy characters you can find while playing on one of the game’s 7 boards. In Mario Party mode, beating a Jamboree Buddy’s Showdown Minigame convinces them to join you and provide special benefits. Double coins and double stars are just two of the examples of the perks impressing a Jamboree Buddy can get you.

Interestingly, some of these Showdown Minigames group multiple minigames together in a triathlon sort of format where you’re scored in each one. If you want to get the opportunity to play Waluigi’s Pinball Arcade or Mario’s Three-peat before Jamboree releases next week, head out to your local Nintendo Switch kiosk!

Super Mario Party Jamboree releases on Thursday, October 17th, 2024 and can be pre-ordered on the Nintendo Switch eShop and at participating retailers.
