When I was a kid, it was a rare treat to find video game-themed toys in fast food kids’ meals. I still remember the frenzy surrounding the 1999 Burger King and Pokémon promotion, combining two of my all-time favorite things: dubious food and video games. Fast forward to today, and it feels like there’s a new video game kids’ meal promotion every other week, from Kirby toys in Japan to Just Dance in the U.S. Now, Mario Kart has joined the ranks, with new Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Happy Meal toys arriving at McDonald’s locations in Australia starting today.

Some of you keen-eyed fans might be thinking, “Didn’t we already get these toys two years ago?” And you’d be right—sort of! While many of the toys, like Bowser and Toad, are reissues from the 2022 promotion, there are also some brand new additions, such as Gold Mario and Pink Gold Peach.

Mario Kart toys are now available in US McDonald’s Happy Meals

If you’re in Australia, you can snag a Mario Kart toy at the nearest Maccas right now. As for the rest of the world, stay tuned!
