For anyone who is into collecting the various icons Nintendo offers Switch Online subscribers, September is going to be an eventful month. Likely in anticipation of the upcoming release of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, anyone who plays The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening via the Game Boy app will not only receive 50 platinum coins but also the chance to unlock new avatar icons based on characters from the game.
The preview image Nintendo revealed shows off Link, Marin, and Tarin, though there are likely to be more as the month goes on. This mission and its corresponding rewards will be available until September 30, 2024, and icons typically cost 5 platinum coins. I don’t believe there is a set time limit to earn the 50 coins, so simply booting the game up and exiting should be enough.
