SpongeBob SquarePants is many things — arguably the biggest animated show of all time, the most recognizable sea creature next to Nemo, Dory, and Jaws, as well as Nickelodeon’s unabashed mascot. However, he is also a video game star thanks to his successful takes on 3D platforming from the mid-2000s.

So, where does that leave Patrick Star? Well, up until a few years ago, he’s been SpongeBob’s animated and video game co-star. But now that he has his own show, The Patrick Star Show, it’s only appropriate he gets a proper video game take on his solo adventures.

The Patrick Star Game aims to capture Patrick’s goofy nature by being a physics platformer/3D open-world hybrid not dissimilar to the Goat Simulator series or Human Fall Flat. Patrick looks like he’ll have plenty to do on this adventure through Bikini Bottom. In the trailer, he can be seen flipping, rolling, throwing himself into objects, skydiving through rings in a PilotWings-esque minigame, and taking requests from SpongeBob, Sandy, Squidward, and Mrs. Puff. More of Patrick’s friends are confirmed to be included in this adventure as well.

The gameplay style and open format fit the SpongeBob series and its silly reputation perfectly. The Patrick Star Game throws itself onto Nintendo Switch on October 4th. Preorders are available starting today on the Nintendo eShop.
