As part of today’s Nintendo Direct, Digital Eclipse revealed a brand-new Tetris collection for the Switch titled “Tetris Forever.” Part of the company’s “Gold Master” series and set to include at least 15 different Tetris titles from over the years, this newest compilation isn’t content with simply rehashing the past. Alongside most of the classic Tetris games will be a brand-new multiplayer Tetris experience dubbed “Tetris Time Warp.”

Tetris Time Warp is a unique take on Tetris where players jump through different styles while clearing lines. It’s almost like how Tetris and Dr. Mario would shift between the two in one of its specific multiplayer modes. You’ll start in classic Tetris and work your way up to a modern rendition of the game, all while players you’re versing will be doing the same. Seemingly, it will be a race to the modern era.

As with the previous Gold Master titles “The Making of Karateka” and “Llamasoft: The Jeff Minster Story,” Tetris Forever will come packed with over an hour of documentary featurettes. These will include new interviews with original Tetris creator Alexey Pajitnov, Tetris Company founder Henk Rogers, and more. It’s uncertain if the template set by Atari 50 will be followed, but a timeline of all the various Tetris releases is likely to be included.

For now, Tetris Forever has been announced as coming to Switch later this year. Tetris 99 will also get a Maximus Event with a new theme based on the NES Tetris in the Winter.
