When The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom was first announced, the official Japanese website strongly hinted that amiibo would play a role in the game with an amiibo logo found on the games Japanese eShop listing.. Now, with just over a month until the game’s September 26th release, we finally have more details on how amiibo will function.
According to the Japanese Nintendo webpage, tapping a Zelda-series amiibo in the game will unlock useful items and allow players to access different colors of clothing.
“In addition to items that will be useful for your adventure, you may also be able to get different colors of clothing that can be obtained in the game.”
It also appears that every Zelda amiibo released thus far will be compatible with Echoes. The exact nature of these useful items remains a mystery, but hopefully, Nintendo will provide more information—and maybe even announce a new Zelda amiibo—in the coming weeks.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom launches on Nintendo Switch on September 26th. Pre-orders for the game and several Zelda series amiibo are live right now at Best Buy. Best Buy is also offering a free Echoes of Wisdom stand with purchase of the game.
