Ask most Nintendo fans how they feel about 2024 so far and you’ll almost certainly hear about how slow the release schedules have been. It is pretty clear that there isn’t a lot going on as Nintendo prepares the successor to the Switch. That being said, early last month Nintendo stated that a Direct would be shown off sometime in June, though it wouldn’t reveal anything about the Switch 2. Since then, people have been speculating as to when the Direct would be, and a recent leak suggests it could be coming on the 18th.

The leak in question actually doesn’t directly involve Nintendo; it comes from the site GameSpot which accidentally revealed a trailer for DLC for the game Among Us which would be released on the 18th. The video was promptly taken down, but not before people began to wonder if this release could coincide with a Nintendo Direct. In addition to this, some noticed that maintenance for Nintendo Switch Online is also scheduled for shortly before this date on the 17th. This could also coincide with a Direct, though it’s hard to be certain.

With all of these factors put together along with the fact that we know for certain that a Direct is coming this month, it seems somewhat plausible that the 18th might be the day. That being said, none of this is official confirmation and it is possible that it is coming on a different date despite this. Regardless though, keep your eyes out for a Direct announcement sometime soon!
