It has been so long since an Endless Ocean game was released that I almost forgot a new one was around the corner. With less than a month before its release day, Nintendo has uploaded a new trailer for Endless Ocean Luminous that doesn’t so much explain what you’ll be doing more than it simply lets the game play out so you can see it firsthand.

The big addition with Luminous is that you can partner up with up to 30 players (!) to explore the depths and find majestic sights. There doesn’t seem to be a true single-player mode here, but then Endless Ocean was never strictly about finishing a “campaign.” The entire gimmick of the series is that it renders aquatic life in a manner that only video games can. It’s also fun to swim around and investigate sunken ruins or beautiful reefs.

Endless Ocean Luminous will be hitting the Switch on May 2, 2024. You will need a Switch Online membership to play online, but the game does feature an offline option for those that want to go solo.
