Released 20 years ago, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is an absolute classic that fans will take any opportunity to praise. Nintendo knows this, so the upcoming Switch remake of the game is sticking very closely to the original’s art style and soundtrack. At least, that’s what this newest clip on Nintendo’s Twitter account indicates.

In a brief snippet of the final product, Nintendo has shared some footage from the opening of Thousand-Year Door. Players will start their journey in Rogueport, the hub world of this particular game. Built by generations of poor folk following a battle between the four heroes and the Shadow Queen, you’ll revisit this area multiple times to navigate the game’s campaign. You’ll be very acquainted with its surroundings by the end.

It’s been many years since I’ve had the chance to play The Thousand-Year Door, but even I can’t forget Rogueport. As with any good RPG adventure, having a central hub helps endear the experience to the player and gives them a respite from the perilous battles they’ll be enduring along the way. I also just plain like the paper art style that Paper Mario has… who would have thought?
