Released last fall to mixed reception, the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 was a great-on-paper compilation of the first three MGS games and a ton of bonus material. Alongside the MSX originals came “updated” versions of the PlayStation classics and a smattering of extras such as the Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel. Despite being what many should call a legendary collection, it hasn’t exactly been doing well.

That’s likely why Konami is now launching a web series called the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Series. Acting more as an overview of the games, the first episode welcomes back Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter to wax nostalgic about the impact MGS has had on the gaming industry. It also teases some future information about Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and maybe even future Master Collection volumes.

It’s not the most comprehensive of series overviews, but it can be a fun little trip to hear Hayter recount how MGS became a phenomenon. It’s kind of a shame that Hayter was dropped in MGS V: Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain, but Konami is likely trying to curry fan favor back after the tumultuous split it had with series creator Hideo Kojima back in 2015.

If you’re up to having a brief recap of all things MGS, be sure to check out the video on Konami’s YouTube page. It’s a little over five minutes long, so it won’t eat up much of your day… unlike some of the cutscenes in MGS.
