As part of a small update on its most popular franchises yesterday, Capcom announced that a new port of the original Monster Hunter Stories will be heading to Nintendo Switch on June 14th, 2024. Also coming to PC and PlayStation 4 on the same day, the most noticeable change for this version is that the game has redone visuals to better accommodate HD standards. That makes sense considering the title was originally a 3DS game.
What’s different about the Monster Hunter Stories remaster?
A tweet on the official Monster Hunter Twitter account states that this version will also come packed with content that was only released in Japan. There is even a bonus outfit for Navirou, your Palico companion, that you can unlock with save data from Monster Hunter Stories 2, which is some weird reverse ouroboros that confuses my brain.

Will there be a physical version of the Monster Hunter Stories remaster?
Interestingly, the only version of the game getting a physical release is the Switch port. In another odd twist, it will only be part of the Monster Hunter Stories Collection bundle, which packages the first and second game together. That’s inconvenient if you already own the sequel, but we also don’t know if the first game will even be on a cartridge. It’s very likely that Capcom will simply offer a download code for this belated port.
