All the way back in August of 1994, the now cult classic title Earthbound was first released in Japan; despite the game turning 30 this year, the game’s fanbase is still as dedicated as ever. The higher-ups at Nintendo are well aware of this passion too, and as such have promised lots of new Earthbound-themed merchandise throughout the year. In particular, a new Mother-themed watch has just been announced!

The “Mother Red GW-6900” is the second in a series of three Earthbound-centric watches being produced in collaboration with the watch brand Casio. This watch features a bright red body and a handful of fun easter eggs across the design of it. The backlight reveals the classic “SMAAAASH!!” effect hidden in the backing, and the telephone with which Ness calls his father is on the back.

The watch will be available in a lottery sale between the 14th and 25th of March via the Hibonichi Mother Project. It’ll cost 23,980¥ before tax, which is around $160. A pretty hefty price for sure – but if you’re a collector of the Mother series this is a must-have.
