The Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Game celebrated its 25th anniversary over the weekend, and during the celebration Konami made several announcements concerning the future of Yu-Gi-Oh! video games. The most exciting announcement by far was the announcement of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection, a collection of the earliest video games in the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise coming to Switch and Steam.

What games are in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection?

The most exciting part of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection is Konami’s announcement that the collection will include Yu-Gi-Oh! titles that were never released outside of Japan. The only title revealed for the collection thus far is one of those titles, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 4: Battle of the Great Duelists for the Game Boy Color. Originally released in three versions, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 4 came in three editions: Yugi Deck, Joey Deck, and Kaiba Deck and went on to be Japan’s highest selling Game Boy Color game with 2.2 million copies sold.

Return to Yu-Gi-Oh’s earliest days

There hasn’t been any announcement of other titles that will be in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection, but there are several candidates for release, including the first three Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters games, only one of which released in North America, and Yu-Gi-Oh! The Eternal Duelist Soul, originally released for Game Boy Advance. It’s also possible that we could see Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories, originally released for the PlayStation, and its PlayStation 2 sequel, Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the Roses, though the latter may be a stretch.

It would also be great if some of the non-card game Yu-Gi-Oh! titles were included, like Yu-Gi-Oh! Monster Capsule: Breed and Battle for the PlayStation or its Game Boy port, or even the Game Boy Advance’s Yu-Gi-Oh! Dungeon Dice Monsters. The non-card game titles are probably unlikely given that Konami is celebrating the card game’s 25th anniversary, but a man can dream, right?

When does Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection release?

There is no release date announced for Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection yet, but rest assured we’ll keep our readers updated as more information is available.
