With no new Pokémon news on the horizon, fans across the world are left wondering about what might be coming next. While we’ll certainly find out more on Pokémon Day later this month, many fans have been speculating about what may be in the forecast – us included. One especially popular theory is that The Pokémon Company could be foreshadowing a return to the Unova region sometime in the near future.

The source of the Unova remake rumors

The main source of this recent theory comes from a handful of Tweets from the official Pokémon Twitter account featuring Unova’s Legendary Pokémon. The three back-to-back posts feature a reminder that Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem are obtainable in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet’s Indigo Disk DLC, and then the remaining two Tweets just feature Reshiram and Zekrom flying through the sky. Whether this is just random or indicative of something more is hard to say right now.

Perhaps a more compelling source of intrigue is the heavy Unova focus of the Indigo Disk expansion itself. Blueberry Academy is located in the actual Unova region, and features many callbacks to the original games in the form of the soundtrack, characters, and map design. Perhaps this could be a teaser or even a testing ground for things yet to come. Regardless of whether it is or it isn’t, Unova fans are loving it!

Are Unova remakes actually coming soon?

As tempting as it is to buy into the hype, it’s important to realize that there isn’t actually that much substance to this – most of the recent rumors come from just three Tweets. The first of those three is likely just for marketing, given that they also featured Legendary Pokémon that can be caught from other regions in identically-formatted posts. It’s certainly good to be excited and hopeful for Unova content, but don’t forget to take all of this speculation with a grain of salt. After all, the Pokémon fanbase is rather notorious for turning the slightest hint into remake speculation – that was the case for years before Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were eventually released in 2021.

With all of that said, it’s almost certain that new Unova content will arrive sooner or later. Whether that is soon or still a few years away is up in the air, but regardless, Unova fans have a lot to look forward to.
