Last time we saw new Spirits come to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate I thought we had it all figured out. We’d see highlights from Nintendo’s 2023 first party releases like Tears of the Kingdom and Pikmin 4 and that would be it.

Oh how wrong I was, as the second of four waves has been announced and it’s full of surprises.

Two absolutely fantastic games are represented here via Hades and 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. These are among our favorites on Switch and received nothing but praise in their respective reviews, Hades even being our (and everyone else’s) Game of the Year for 2020. Seeing Supergiant Games represented in Smash is spectacular, and is a reminder at how we’re starving for Hades II news.

Oh, and WBSC eBaseball: Power Pros is here too. Good for them!

In all seriousness, it’s one of Konami’s most popular series in Japan at least, and fits right in with these heavy hitters. You can take on these new Spirit fights and add the lot to your collection for a five day period starting January 25th.
