The Consumer Electronics Show 2024, aka CES 24, kicked off this week and a slew of announcements for all of the latest technology have been hitting the internet. While there isn’t a tremendous amount of gaming news to be learned, we did get some updates from Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida about the upcoming live-action Legend of Zelda movie. No, that’s not a typo.

Who’s producing the Zelda movie?

Announced this past November, Nintendo’s next foray into films will be with a live-action adaptation of the Zelda series. In a bizarre turn of events, Sony Pictures Entertainment will be co-producing/financing the film with Nintendo. As such, Yoshida was able to share some news about what was happening with that film, though he didn’t really say much.

What has Sony said about the Zelda movie?

While Yoshida wasn’t completely silent like Zelda series protagonist Link, he did offer this bit of insight on the project. “We’re also excited to talk about another IP expansion, the adaptation of Nintendo’s game franchise The Legend of Zelda. This live-action film will deliver an amazing tale of adventure and discovery.”

A lot of that is probably what fans would have expected from a Zelda film. With the film having just been announced, there likely isn’t much else that can be said at the moment. Still, it’s a bit of a surreal moment to see a Sony employee talking about a Nintendo film at a major convention. ’90s kids are having a meltdown.
