In case you’re somehow unaware, this past weekend saw Fortnite saw its latest big revamp bringing the game into its fifth Chapter. At this point, though, it might be best to call it a plaform.

Key to Fortnite’s immediate future are four pillar experiences – the familiar Battle Royale mode, the enigmatic Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racing from the Rocket League developers, and Fortnite Festival from the former Rockband devs at Harmonix.

This was all revealed in flashy fashion with the likes of Eminem, a Fall Guys bean, and more cropping up throughout a playable event. The season has now started, and while it’s not all there just yet, there are plenty of things to see.

Namely, Family Guy’s Peter Griffin is in the Battle Pass, alongside a new variant of Jonesy, the mysterious “Society”, and more. The bonus skin this time around is a familiar Konami face for Smash Bros. fans – Solid Snake himself, rocking his Metal Gear Solid 2 design, though leaks have confirmed Metal Gear Solid 4’s Old Snake is on the way. Unfortunately you’ll have to wait until mid-January to actually play as the legendary soldier.

You can play through Fortnite Chapter 5 on Switch and practically every other modern system now while the various additional modes are expected to arrive over the coming weeks.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
