One of my favorite collections from the past few years has undoubtedly been Atari 50. Boasting over 100 games spanning from the 2600 to the Jaguar, this little cartridge encapsulates a massive amount of gaming history. Now, more than a year after its initial release, Atari 50 is set to receive multiple free software updates. The first update is scheduled for next week on December 5th, featuring the addition of 12 Atari 2600 games.

According to a press release, the upcoming games will consist of prototypes, homebrews, and official titles. Although an official list is yet to be revealed, Atari hinted at several games in a tweet this morning, using emojis. While it’s speculative, my interpretation includes the following:

  • Diamond Mine
  • One on One Basketball
  • Steeplechase
  • Water Warfare

Even more updates are planned for the near future that will include even more games. Stay tuned to Nintendo Wire for more details as we get them!
