The Nintendo Switch has never been pitched as a media playback device but nevertheless various apps have been released on the platform letting you enjoy things besides video games. One of the biggest will soon be leaving, however.

Twitch has confirmed via a support page that service for the Nintendo Switch’s Twitch app will be ended on January 31st, 2024. Downloads of the app from the Switch eShop will be pulled much sooner on November 6th, 2023. That’s just next week!

It’s worth noting that the Twitch app on Switch didn’t allow players to livestream gameplay from the system, only watching content was supported. Various features were also unavailable such as the stream chat and subscribing.

Of course Twitch is still available across a wide range of devices but we’ll just have to wait and see if Nintendo’s next system expands its compatibility.
