In a move straight out of the old American Kirby playbook, Nintendo has updated the key art for Princess Peach: Showtime! in all territories to change Peach’s expression to be just a bit fiercer. It’s called serving, ladies and gentlemen.

Specifically it’s the expression of the central Peach and Kung-Fu Peach that are updated, while the expressions of Patissier Peach and Swordfighter Peach remain intact. There are several reasons you can construe – giving her a wider variety of expressions in general, pulling a bit from the Super Mario Bros. Movie’s interpretation of Peach, just being more flavorful in general. That said, the jokes come easy, and general opinion on the change is divisive. We’ll have to see if it’s reflected in the game proper.

Princess Peach: Showtime! releases on March 22nd, 2024.
