The Japanese television series GameCenter CX was somewhat ahead of its time when it first started airing back in late 2003, with its wacky video game playthroughs by Shinya Arino predating the Let’s Play craze that took video sharing websites by storm just a few years later.
The series did have something of a western presence eventually when one of its Nintendo DS adaptations was localized as Retro Game Challenge by Xseed to critical acclaim, though poor sales meant its two sequels never got brought overseas.
There may be a ray of hope, though, as Bandai Namco has announced it will be releasing remastered versions of the two Nintendo DS entries for the Switch! Check out the first trailer below:
