With another major Nintendo release on the horizon it’s once again time for Tetris 99 to get dressed up for the occasion.
It’s been confirmed that the next Maximus Cup theme will be Pikmin 4, and naturally it’s set to feature a bunch of cute nods to the game. Each of the pieces has the face and color of a Pikmin (or Oatchi), although White, Rock, and Flying Pikmin appear to have gotten the short straw. At the very least they’re in the background!
You can also expect to drop blocks to some of the games tunes, while the sound effects incorporate the cute chirps of the Pikmin themselves.
The Pikmin 4 Tetris 99 Maximus Cup runs from July 7th to July 10th. Pikmin 4, meanwhile, will release on July 21st!
