As an evolution of the classic Sonic leg of the wider Sonic The Hedgehog franchise, Sonic Superstars features the classic era quartet of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy. But after he was absent from the modern Sonic Frontiers, fans of Shadow the Hedgehog are getting restless, and Shacknews – in the midst of interviewing Sonic creative Takashi Iizuka about Superstars – had to make sure he wasn’t in the game.

Iizuka is very forward with the denial, confirming that Shadow won’t be in Sonic Superstars. However, he does tease Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (the movie) and also mentions that he would love to do a project focused on Shadow for all of his fans out there. Does that mean we’ll get a Shadow the Hedgehog 2? That’d be really somethin’.

Iizuka also discussed the co-evolution of “classic” and “modern” style Sonic games, what being in 3D means for subgames, and more in the relatively brief interview, so check it out when you can.
