Fans of the slightly grittier Mega Man X spin-off series from Capcom have had a long wait since the last mainline entry, though the indie studio Batterystaple Games tried its hand at remedying that situation with 20XX, released in 2017.

Now the game’s sequel will shortly be leaving Early Access on PC with a Switch port launching at the same time. 30XX maintains its predecessor’s roguelite elements, but players can now enjoy an aptly named “Mega Mode” which features static levels and no permadeath. Co-op play is also returning, with players controlling either the combo-friendly Ace or the more intricate Nina.

30XX will arrive for the Nintendo Switch and PC on August 9th, 2023.
