Games that imitate FromSoftware’s iconic Souls/Ring/Borne/Kiro series often borrow the same narrative styling, specifically focusing on ambient worldbuilding over talky narratives.

The Last Hero of Nostalgaia is doing the absolute opposite of that. It may be taking the core gameplay and somewhat dark tone of its inspiration, but the story is a reference-filled comedy adventure that takes place in the world of video games, blighted by pixelation.

In the trailer below we get a glimpse at the game’s DLC, “The Rise of Evil”, which features some obvious Minecraft homages, though eagle-eyed viewers will see a familiar mansion…
