Where many third party developers seem to have moved on from supporting the Nintendo Switch, Netherrealm Studios seems dedicated to pushing the limits of the platform.

The newly announced Mortal Kombat 1 (yes, that’s what it’s called) will be heading to current gen systems and PC, as expected, but nestled in the announcement is a familiar logo – the Nintendo Switch.

As confirmed by the official FAQ, Shiver Entertainment and Saber Interactive will be handling the port.

The game itself is set in a reborn Mortal Kombat universe created by the Fire God Lui Kang. You can check out the very bloody announcement trailer below:

Confirmed characters so far include Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung and Johnny Cage while Kameo Characters will be able to support you.

Mortal Kombat 1 launches on September 19th, 2023. We’ll be sure to bring you more on this surprising Switch port as it’s revealed.
