Well this is interesting – it’s been announced that select movie theaters across North America (primarily in the US) will show the Super Mario Bros. Movie in Japanese. The movie will not feature subtitles, so unless you know Japanese you won’t be able to understand the dialogue. The announcement tweet includes the locations where this is happening:

 

 

This is more of a novelty than anything, though nice for Japanese speakers who want to see the movie in the language they might have grown up with. I may go just to hear Mario voiced by Mamoru Miyano of all people. The screenings are available “for a limited time” with no clear end date, so get in when you can. They’ll begin this Friday, April 28th, the same day the movie premieres in Japan proper.
