While Scarlet & Violet were expansive and fun Pokémon titles, the games’ stability at launch was, to put it diplomatically, a bit of a mess – a trend that is unfortunately continuing with new patches. Players are reporting that the latest update to the game is leading to saved games being lost, with some affected after connecting to Pokémon GO to send postcards and others wiped after downloading or even just buying the game’s Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC.

There’s no definitive cause for any of this yet. Several players have reached out to Nintendo support in an attempt to get their Pokémon back, with one agent abruptly closing a support ticket and another stating that it might be possible to transfer Pokémon from a corrupted save onto Pokémon Home once Scarlet & Violet are compatible with it. While these bugs are affecting a minority of players, it’s enough that we caution readers from touching the DLC or GO compatibility until the issue is addressed. There are some early download bonuses for the DLC, but the actual meat of it doesn’t release for several months, so you can hold off for now.

We’ll be sure to provide updates on any official responses from Nintendo.
