Yesterday, The Pokémon Company invited us all to “Pokémon Together” in the days leading up to Pokémon Day on February 27th, sharing memories of the franchise and our connections through it. But an unintended connection has been made on the website’s source code: one that shows a copyright for Spike Chunsoft, a company whose relationship to Pokémon is quite specific.

Due to Spike Chunsoft appearing on the Pokemon Together website earlier, it appears a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game might be announced during Pokemon Day. from NintendoSwitch

SpikeChun is the developer behind the highly popular Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series, the story-driven spinoffs of the franchise known for fun roguelike gameplay and making people cry their eyes out. The last game in the series was Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, a  remake of the original PMD for GBA/DS that released on the Nintendo Switch in early 2020. And with a generation of Pokémon passing in the meantime, now seems like a perfect time for another one. Will it be an all-new game? A remake of the beloved and heartrending Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky? Something else entirely? We’ll have to see. It could have been a clerical error, for all we know.

Tune in on Pokémon Day, February 27th, where all will (hopefully) be revealed.
