About a year and a half ago, Extremely OK Games – developers of Towerfall and Celeste – announced their next project, titled Earthblade. And now we have our first glimpse of the the game, courtesy of a reveal trailer at The Game Awards 2022:

From the youtube description:

You are Névoa, an enigmatic child of Fate returning at long last to Earth, in this explor-action platformer. Earthblade’s lush pixel art world offers seamless exploration, challenging combat, and countless mysteries to pick apart. Travel the remnants of a ruined world, encounter denizens both friend and foe, and piece together the Earth’s fractured history.

You can tell the game is visually and audibly from the same team as Celeste, with a pixel 2D world and ambient Lena Raine sounds. The trailer is more about the vibe and world, but we do get some glimpses of the “explor-action platformer” gameplay. Earthblade launches in 2024, so over a year away. We’re sure it’ll be worth the wait.
