There’s a lot of… junk on the Nintendo eShop. I hesitate to call it that because all games require at least a little bit of effort to get published (more effort than it takes to complain about them on the internet at least), but there’s no doubt that there’s a lot of cheap games that price themselves low to get high sales based on nothing but notoriety and gimickiness. Such was the label hurled at AAA Clock, a “game” that was… a giant clock that you could look at (though, in fairness, it included an actual mini retro game to play too). And now, the most anticipated sequel of all time is here… AAA Clock 2.

Cheekily referred to as “the most commented, popular, and most-played Switch app around the world,” the glib press release promises bold innovation and an “engaging clock experience.” The trailer shows off quite a bit of the included minigame this time, which looks… like a proper game. Not too far off from a free flash game ten years ago, but free flash games were – are – the bomb. Key features include:

  • Telling time
  • Setting alarms
  • All-ages appeal
  • “Brilliant design”
  • Customization
  • Platformer included

Jokes aside, AAA Clock 2 is clearly trying to be a bit more of an actual game than its predecessor, and I’m not going to demean it without actually seeing what it’s got in store. No word on the pricing yet, but the game will be available on Friday, November 4th.
