The countdown to Splatoon 3’s launch continues! Today, the Squid Research Lab has released another report on the official Splatoon Twitter account. Focusing on the game’s special weapons, we’re getting some more info on a brand new one that was announced during last week’s Splatoon 3 Direct – the Tacticooler.
Inkling and Octolings can throw a power-up party with the Tacticooler. With teams of four, that means four cans of delicious beverages will be doled out and can give players “a variety of effects”, like “momentarily increasing speed.” Of course, that was all that was mentioned during the Splatoon 3 Direct. The Squid Research Lab’s report reveals another perk!
You know, it’ll be easier to just share this footage we've obtained of a Tacticooler in action. Notice how it appears to function as an ad hoc shield! So rather than place the Tacticooler near a shady spot with a view, you might consider a strategic spot to launch your attack. pic.twitter.com/j8fXqV4iee

A faster respawn? That can certainly turn the tide if you’re splatted with 30 seconds to go in a Turf War match, or in Anarchy Battles (the “new” Ranked Battles) when the opposing team is ready to claim victory. And confirmation that the Tacticooler itself will double as a shield! As for how long these effects will last, we don’t know yet. You’ll be able to try out the Tacticooler for yourself when Splatoon 3 launches on Friday, September 9th. Or, all of us Squid- and Octokids will get really lucky and see it included in Splatoon 3’s Splatfest World Premiere happening on Saturday, August 27th.
