Word of the upcoming DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe seems to have come to a screeching halt of late, with no announcements since Wave 1’s launch months ago. Nintendo itself still has yet to break that silence by revving up an official announcement for Wave 2, but fans of the popular racing title seem to have uncovered some hope that the next batch of content isn’t far away.
Twitter user @teebeeYT shared a photo of a digital poster for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass that was recently sent to GameStop employees, which could be an indication that Wave 2 is coming soon.
A friend who works at GameStop just got a poster for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass: looks like wave two is indeed this coming week https://t.co/ZojBwYKYWd pic.twitter.com/wYmFuVGHTM

This correlates nicely with last week’s fan speculation sparked by a recent Japanese 7-Eleven ad. The poster promoted the first wave of DLC tracks and employees were instructed to take it down yesterday, suggesting that the poster will soon be obsolete – which, if Wave 2 is indeed arriving this week, makes perfect sense.
A July release also seems highly plausible when you consider the potentially optimal timing of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s DLC releases. Since the DLC will end in 2023, six waves evenly distributed from March 2022 (Wave 1’s launch) would mean that we may see a wave every four months.
Back in March, dataminers discovered a banner image featuring screenshots of what appeared to be unannounced tracks for the game, including Mario Circuit and Vanilla Lake (Super Mario Kart), Koopa Cape and Maple Treeway (Mario Kart Wii), Rainbow Road (Mario Kart 7), and Sydney Sprint, and LA Laps, and New York Minute (Mario Kart Tour) among others.
